Barbecue Chicken recipe using cola?

One can of Pepsi, one cup of ketchup. Mix together and baste chicken. It sounds a little crazy, I know, but it is very good.

never heard about using cola, but guiness stout will do.very popular ya know.

Here’s what I found:

COCA COLA BARBECUE SAUCE
Cook 1 chopped onion and 2 chopped cloves garlic in 2 tablespoons butter until soft.
Add: 2 c. catsup
6 oz. Coke
1 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
1 tsp. Mustard
2 tbsp. Vinegar

Simmer 1 hour or until thick.

SOUTHERN BARBECUE SAUCE
1 (18 oz.) bottle barbecue sauce
1/4 c. molasses or table syrup
1/4 c. cola (Pepsi or Coke)
1/4 c. minced onions

Combine all ingredients in heavy pan; heat slowly. Do not boil. Makes a sweet tasting sauce for barbecue chicken or beef sandwiches. For a really southern style sandwich, try adding cole slaw on top of your sandwich.

BARBECUE SAUCE
2 med. onions (chopped)
3/4 c. Coke
3/4 c. catsup
2 tbsp. Vinegar
2 tbsp. Worcestershire
1/2 tsp. chili powder
1/2 tsp. Salt

Combine all ingredients. Bring to boil. Cover pan; reduce heat. Cover pan and simmer 45 minutes. 2 cups.

I haven’t actually try them but they sound good! Bon appetit!

Yucky

I just smoked 3 slabs of ribs last weekend and the recipe called for 24 ounces of Dr. Pepper in the “mop” (basting sauce). I thought it was strange too, but they turned out awesome!

Do you mean setting a can of cola on the grill and then placing the chicken over the can?
The cola boils and flavors the chicken meat from the inside.
It is usually done with beer, but people do it with soda, too.

COCA COLA BARBEQUE CHICKEN

1 chicken, cut up
1 lg. onion, sliced
10 or 12oz. Coca Cola, or any cola
10 to 12oz. ketchup

Place chicken in baking dish, & cover with onion slices. Mix together cola & ketchup, then pour over chicken & onions. Bake at 350º for 1 to 1 1/2 hours.
