Silver Tip Roast Crockpot recipe?

I found a package of beef in my freezer labeled “CAB Silver Tip Roast”. it’s still in date…and weighs 1.4 pounds. and i am not much of a cook. looking for a recipe to cook this sucker in my crock pot tomorrow. something easy.. i can prep before work.. turn on.. and will be done when i get home 8 hours later. my pantry is kinda bare.. but i have salt, pepper, oil, soy sauce, red wine vinegar, cream of mushroom soup, and garlic… so any recipe with any of those ingredients.. i can do. ANY HELP?

Fat Jon answers:

What you have sounds pretty perfect. Mix the soup and 1 can of water with 2 table spoons of vinegar. One teaspoon each of garlic minced if it’s fresh powder is great too. Salt and pepper to taste. Make sure steak is thawed, coat with some oil, brown it on the stove for 2-3 minutes per side. Put in crock pot, pour the soup mixture over it, when you get home…pull the roast out, and make some rice to go with the great mushroom sauce you’ll have.

Fish Recipe for Large Buffet?

I’ll be hosting a party this fall with about 60 people. We will be serving food buffet style using large stainless steel chaffing dishes. I need a nice fish recipe that can be made ahead of time with very little effort and can sit in sauce on a buffet table for at least an hour without suffering too much. So, here are the requirements: No shellfish, fast to make, has sauce it can sit in, is an entree and not a pasta dish. Salmon is preferred. Anyone have experience cooking for a crowd like this?

Please don’t just send me a link to a site with tons of recipes…I’ve looked over them and am searching for something easy, tried and true.

I’m also making a roasted vegetable torte that has layers of eggplant and other roasted vegetables alternating with a ricotta cheese filling and tomato sauce, home made pesto tortellini in an Alfredo sauce, and spinach and goat cheese lasagna cupcakes. The fish dish needs to be a low-carb option.

Teriyaki Salmon is a favorite in Hawaii….second to Lomi Lomi.

Serves/Makes: 60

4.995 cups orange juice
4.995 cups soy sauce
3 3/4 cups dry white wine
30 tablespoons vegetable oil
15 tablespoons grated fresh ginger
15 teaspoons dry mustard
15 teaspoons lemon juice
15 pinches sugar
15 cloves garlic, minced
7 1/2 teaspoons freshly ground black pepper
60 (6 oz. Size) salmon fillets

Combine orange juice, soy sauce, white wine, vegetable oil, ginger, dry mustard, lemon juice, sugar, garlic and pepper in shallow dish or large zip-lock plastic bag; add salmon fillets. Cover or seal, and chill 30 minutes, turning once.

Remove fillets from marinade, reserving marinade. Place fillets in a 13 x 9 inch pan. Bake at 450F for 10 minutes or until fish flakes easily with a fork. Remove from oven and keep warm.

Bring reserved marinade to a boil in a small saucepan; cook, stirring often, for 6 – 8 minutes or until reduced by half. Pour over fillets and serve.

Hi, I’m a 14-year-old girl whose mom works full-time so she doesn’t have much spare time to make food for me to eat after i come home from school.

Fat Jon answers:

I’m 36, and I’ve been cooking since I was 10 years old. Here’s a very easy recipe I concocted with donated items once. Everyone likes it, and the leftovers (if there are any) can be portioned out, frozen, and reheated.

Poor Man’s Lasagna

Ingredients

* 2 packages macaroni & cheese
* 1 8 oz package of cream cheese, softened
* 1 lb ground beef
* 1 onion, chopped
* 1 can (14.5 oz) tomato sauce

Directions

1. Boil macaroni according to package.
2. Drain and add cream cheese and cheese packets.
3. Mix well, and spread on the bottom of a large baking pan.
4. Brown ground beef with onion. Salt and pepper to taste.
5. Mix in the tomato sauce, then pour mixture over macaroni.
6. Bake at 375 F for 30 minutes.

If I have it, I like to sprinkle grated cheddar cheese over the top halfway through baking.

Send me a message through my profile if you’d like more recipes. I’d love to help.

URGENT! Need help NOW! Please . . . HELP ME?

Hi, my name is Kolbie. I am in the eighth grade and I have this project the I have to do for F.A.C.S. or Home Economics. You see on the first day of school (three days ago) we got a “Family Dinner Project”. Now, the project is due on the first of September, so of course I haven’t started on it yet. But, then today in class she drops a bomb on us saying that we had to bring in at least two of the recipes from the meal we are going to cook for our family, and I have no idea what I am going to make. Basically we are supposed to be learning about cooking, shopping, and all of the crap like that. You have to actually cook it all, and buy it all from the store and attach the receit to the project. So, I need some help quick. I have to find a meal to make. It has to have a variety of color, some meat, veggies, maybe a salad, and a desert. I am looking for something that will involve me cooking, but not take hours to prepare. Also, make it fairly easy. I hope you can help me! Thank you!

Fat Jon answers:

This seems like an extremely easy project. A great resource for recipes that I’ve found is the Better Homes and Gardens cook book. There are a lot of simple recipes and it covers all the bases- appetizers to desserts.

Since it’s summer, I would go for a lighter meal. Chicken, steamed fresh veggies, and a soup or salad would make a nice healthy meal for your family. For dessert, you could make a simple fruit tart or something along those lines. Good luck with your project :)

Daniel asks…

Think high tea! Help pls!?

Thurs night we are having a ladies’ pajama night at my church. We’re having a high tea. Certain women are told to bringing crustless tea sandwiches. Other women (like me) are supposed to bring a “small, dainty treat” on a plate. I’m freaking out!!!!! All the recipes I see to have/know/think of involve heated food in big quantities. I don’t have time to cook because I work (because my first thought was crab rangoon) and have very little time in between getting home, getting dressed, meeting my mom, and going…
So….Do you have any ideas for small dainty appetizers that preferably don’t involve much cooking or prep? Or something that is easy that I could make the night before and will hold up for 24 hours?
In the pantry, I have several cans lump crab, two boxes of Ritz crackers, cans of water chestnuts, canned chicken, and I think that’s about it. Any ideas with those are fabulous, but I’m also willing to go to the store.
Thanks so much, any advice is really appreciated!!

Fat Jon answers:

I would buy bruschetta from a local deli and serve on your ritz crackers, or little garlic toasts. It may cost around 6 or 7 dollars a pound…but it goes a long long way, and is always a big hit. You may only need 1/2 a lb. Depending on the size of your group. To serve I would take two identical bowls, and turn one upside down in the middle of a platter. Place the other bowl right side up on top of the other bowl to create a Pedestal effect. Then surround with crackers. Hope you have a fun night!
