Carol asks…

I am 14 and an amazing cook. What does this mean? What should I do in the future?

Hey so I am 14 years old and I am AN AMAZING cook. I cook dinner at least 3 times a week and everyone loves my food. (this question may make you hungry)

A months ago, I just had like all these crazy ideas for food! And I went into the kitchen and I was having a party for my cousin and I took some chicken and I made a random sauce with some stuff and I never cooked before I fried the chicken then poured the sauce in, and it was the JUCIEST AND TASTIEST CHICKEN EVER. And everyone loved it. And no one got poisioned!

Also there was left over turkey and I heated it up so it was super hot. I poured some hot sauce in a bowl which was buffalo hot sauce. I went in the fridge and got lemon juice, ketchup, and small slices of onion and garlic.

I poured lemon juice into the hotsauce, and then ketchup and the onion and garlic, and it was SOOO tasty just the sauce it tasted like buffalo wing sauce! I dipped the really hot slices of turkey in the sauce and I put it in a hamburger bun and put a big onion and a slice of lettuce on top, and it WAS THE BEST TURKEY BURGER EVER.

I gave my mom a slice and she loved it so much and I made a recipe of it and I call it “Courtney’s Turkey from Buffalo Burgers”.

My mom makes me make them every Friday! My dad loves them I have to make him 1 extra for when he goes to work and he takes it to lunch. My cousin Monique LOVES THEM! And her mom wants me to make some but no!!

My mom also told me that she thinks I am very talented in the kitchen. She told me I can cook anything else I want.

(THIS IS GOING TO BE ONE LONG QUESTION…)

I asked her to buy some wraps (like for making a wrap) and some chicken.

I thought of trying to make a sweet and spicy wrap. I read that marijinating the chicken makes it so delicious.

So I put it in a spicy tomato sauce for 5 hours… then when I came home from a party I cooked the chicken with my moms help, and the chicken was very spicy.

I took a wrap. I poured some plum sauce on the wrap, and rubbed it all over. Then I put a straight line of mayo going down it. Then I put the chicken in. Then I put lettuce in. It looked so simple. I wrapped it up… and cut it into 3 slices.

IT WAS SOO DELICIOUS! My mom and dad loved it and so did I!

I made more for dinner.

Ok this is a random idea I got today from a TV show.

I asked my mom to go buy a steak when she comes home from work.

I mariniated the steak in some buffalo hot sauce (it was not that spicy because I mixed it with mayo which made it thick so it was easy and then 5 hours later it was covered in my buffalo mayo (sounds a bit gross) I like cut a hole at the side of the steak. Then I stuffed crunchy stuff like carrots and big chunks of onion and celery in it.

Then I asked my mom to cook it in the oven.

When it came out I cut it into slices and ate it. It tasted like a normal steak, but a little spicy because I put the buffalo sauce on it before. And the inside was so delcious because I put crunchy vegetables inside!

And my parents loved it…

so yeah…

I think I am a very good cook. But do you think that my food sounds good… even though my parents and family and I love it and I cook most of the time now.

Do you think I am talented?

What should I do in the future? I love cooking! (but I dont wanna become a fat chef)

AND my mom is coming home in half an hour.

I asked her to bring home ready made pizza doh and I am going to make a spicy crunchy vegetable pizza.

Sandy asks…

My mom’s birthday dinner?

Well, since money is kinda tight right now we’re going to be eating my mom’s birthday dinner at home this year instead of going out. That’s fine, but I got put in charge of making dinner. Cooking isn’t the problem, what to cook is. I can’t figure out what to make and my mom isn’t telling me what she wants. I was thinking of either fish or chicken. Easy stuff, I know. I was wondering if anyone has any recipes for something different involving chicken, fish or both. I’m completely stumped and I want to have something new for her birthday.

Thanks a lot!

Fat Jon answers:

Cook boneless skinless chicken breasts ( 1 per person ) in a large skillet with a little oil about 4 minutes per side on medium heat. Add one chopped onion, cook briefly and add 1 cup of chicken broth. Cook about 3 minutes then add one jar of spaghetti sauce. Turn heat to low, cover and let simmer until chicken is done, approximately 20 minutes. Meanwhile, cook some pasta following directions on the box. Drain the pasta and serve the chicken and sauce over the pasta.

Serve with a bagged salad and Italian bread and there’s a meal.

Feeling more energetic? Dip the chicken into beaten egg and roll in bread crumbs & Parmesan cheese before frying it and call it Chicken Parmigiana. Recipe for that http://creativelittledaisy.typepad.com/creative_little_daisy/2008/01/dinner-challeng.html

Lisa asks…

What can I make to bring to a Super Bowl party that will impress people? It has to travel 1 1/2 hours though?

We were invited to our first Super Bowl party away from home. The people who are there think I’m a ditzy young mom who doesn’t know how to cook, etc. Yes, I am young (21), but I also have more education than they do… and less experience with cooking (they hear my husband’s funny stories about me, such as when I stopped by the worksite one day to drop lunch off for all the guys, and I asked them what they do when the air compressor runs out of air…)

I want to make something that can travel easy in the car. Minor finishing can be done at the house I’m going to. I am open to pretty much anything, and my skill level I would say is Average/Above Average. I’ve been cooking since I was 9-ish, but I can’t really improvise, I follow recipes closely.
