What’s your favourite recipe?
I seen a question earlier that asked what people made at home. My question is – what’s your favourite recipie to cook that’s quick and easy?
I love making chicken and rice. I cook 1 cup of rice in one cup of chicken stock (instead of water, to add more flavour!) and let that sit for about 5 mins or so. Just following whats on the rice package basically, except using chicken stock instead of water.
Then I chop up about a handful of onions and put them into a frying pan, and add a small amount of olive oil or canola oil to the bottom of the pan, just enough to coat it. I defrost and fry the chicken breast on medium heat, until it browns.
After the chicken is cooked fully, I chop it up in slices and add it to the rice. Yum!
So what do you love to make that’s quick and easy? Please share!

This one is great for big gatherings or as finger food for a party!
CINNAMON CREAM CHEESE ROLLS
1 loaf of bread (or how ever many you are serving)
stick of butter melted in a bowl
1 tub of Philly cream cheese
Cinnamon and sugar mixed in a bowl
Take a piece of bread and cut off the crust. With a rolling pin flatten the bread until it’s a little thin. Once you have it flatten take a butter knife and spread on how ever much cream cheese you would like, once you have that done, roll it then cut it in half. Brush on melted butter until fully coated, than dip in cinnamon and sugar. Put in pre-heated oven at 350 degrees and bake for 10 to 15 minutes! Enjoy
*you can substitute the butter for low fat margerine or water for those watching the calories*

Meals – Learn to use a George foreman grill. See if mom or dad will buy you one.
Lean skinless (I know that is the good part) chicken, Talipia, grouper, mahi mahi, salmon, shrimp. All can be cooked on a small grill like the foreman. Sprinkle some black pepper (not too much), garlic powder, Monetary seasoning, Meat Magic, fish magic. The grill should tell you how long to cook the chicken and fish.
Stay away from white bread, pasta, white rice, white potatoes.
Eat some fresh veggies, carrots, broccoli, green beans (steam them in just a little water for about 12 minutes). Longer if not tender.
Mix it up.
You will find you enjoy cooking. Might even have mom and dad asking you to cook. It might even get all of you to sit down together and eat. Bring you closer.
Don’t over eat at one meal. Meat about the size of your palm. Try to eat 5 times a day. When you cook something have enough for one or two more meals. Put them in small plastic containers in the fridge. Eat every 3 hours. Keep metabolism even.
See if your parents will buy you the P90X workout. You can get them on EBay. Do the workouts. Do what you can, take breaks as needed. In 12 weeks you will be stronger, faster and ready for hockey season.

David asks…
Please teach me how to cook!! I’m lost.?
I stay home with my four year old son. I love to cook. I don’t know how to cook. All I can make are simple, fattening foods. I want to learn to cook healthy foods for my son (and myself) without buying 2948209 ingredients and breaking the back. I will share some of the meals I usually prepare..
Spaghetti and meatballs (meatballs are made with ground turkey) but the sauce is Ragu.
Meatloaf on the stove.. it gets so greasy.
Breakfast.. he loves eggs, sausage, bacon, toast and hashbrowns.
Chicken.. broiled with carrots and potatoes in the oven, grilled, bbq and fried. Sides for these are usually boxed mac and cheese, boxed mashed potatoes, and canned veggies.
Hamburger Helper with the same sides as above.
Hamburgers and fries
Frozen lasagna and garlic bread
Healthy choice canned soup and PB sandwiches
Sloppy Joe’s
Fish fillets (box)
These are what I can make and what I go back and forth with. Sad, I know. I’m embarrassed to share this but I want to do better. Can you please share your favorite healthy, easy and cheap recipes? I don’t want to fix this junk anymore but I feel lost when I’m reading recipes and it calls for fifteen different ingredients. =/

Tacos are healthy. Use the leanest beef you can find and light cheese and light sour cream. Make a big salad with tons of veggies, diced turkey, light cheese and a little light dressing. Stir fry is good too. Saute onions, carrots, celery, broccoli, pea pods or any veggies you like, add chicken and stir fry sauce, serve with brown rice. Most recipes have a lot of ingredients but the more you cook the more spices you will have on hand so you don’t have to buy all the spices. Try Sandra Lee’s Semi-Homemade recipes http://www.semihomemade.com/. Her recipes are great, uncomplicated and don’t require too many ingredients.

Lizzie asks…
I need a good juicy pot roast recipe – how do you get that killer flavor?
I’ve done it on stove top with high end cookware, in a crock pot and in the oven. Crock pot seems to be the easiest. It is good with the vegetables and everthing else mixed in. Always comes out eat-with-a-fork juicy. But I can’t seem to get that killer flavor that I’ve had in a few wonderful homes and home-style restaurants. Is it beef stock I’m missing? Some magical seasoning that southerners hide from yankees? I always get a good cut of meat and cook it slow.

I’ve found that cumin has an exotic kick for beef. Add it to your rub. Also, try some sweetness to offset the beef, currants or coca-cola in the braising liquid might be interesting.

Sandra asks…
Has anyone ever considered placenta pills?
I know to a lot of women, this will sound so outrageously gross, but if you didn’t already know, you can make capsules out of your placenta. In some areas, there is a service where you can have someone else make the pills for you.
Ingesting your placenta helps fight postpartum depression, helps with your milk to come in, and gives you energy naturally.
I find the pill concept to be easier than cooking it into food, which some people do. I’ve recipes on stews and lasagnas. That concept doesn’t sound appealing me.
Has anyone ever tried the pill concept or knows anyone that has? I am going to have a hospital birth, so do they even let you take your placenta home?
Thanks to all, and I hope I don’t get any rude remarks…look it up and you can see for yourself the benefits.

I have a friend who did it, she is bi-polar and she said it really helped with PPD. She sadly could not breastfeed, insufficient glandular tissue, so I don’t know how well it would have helped with her milk. She hired a woman who gave them a special hazardous waste container to collect the placenta in, she took it home and dried it, ground it and encapsulated it, and had it back to her by the time she was home from the hospital.

Trying to get healthy, please respond, 10pts to best answer!?
10 points to best answer:
I know everyone gets sick of answering these questions but I thought I’d ask anyway. I am trying to get into shape for the summer. I realize diets do not work over night but I have a hard time coming up with EASY healthy recipes. Furthermore, I need good portion control recipes. It’s just me and my husband and when I cook I always end up with too much food which ends up going bad. Furthermore, I cannot afford a gym in this economy so do you have any suggestions of good exercises that can be done at home? Any and all sincere help would be appreciated.
Additional details: I am not over weight just out of shape. I am 5 foot and about 103lbs (pretty normal I think).

Bodyyweight exercises are a great way to tone and define your body without the expense of a gym. So try doing this little bodyweight circuit, which will burn fat and calories do 10 push ups, then 10 sit ups, then 10 squats, then 10 squat thrusts, 10 star jumps, then back to the push ups again, do this 2 – 3 times a day, and with a good diet also you will start to see good results, also why not try going swimming a couple days in the week, swimming is great for toning muscles and burning loads of calories.
Good luck, xxx

ways to eat healthy with a hectic schedule.?
ive gained like 20 pounds in over two years and i decided that i want to lose the weight & recently ordered a home aerobics step & yoga mat to work out at home, because gym passes are pretty pricey, but i also work swing shift at my job & so does my boyfriend which is usually (1-9, 2-10, 3-11) & by the time i get home its so late that we usually just eat out, or order pizza. what are some quick but healthy recipes to make when i get home around 11:30pm most of the time? because i dont want us to keep eating out every night, besides the days were off work. (when im off i cook at home) i wanna be able to eat healthy its just so late and i dont feel like slaving away in the kitchen for another hour making something. any advice on some easy but healthy meals for us since we eat so late?
thanks.
I’m not over weight, i just want to be able to get back into shape and lose the 20 pounds that i gained. I love the feeling of being healthy and having a healthy body and i feel like if i start working out 5 times a week at home, and try to eat healthy again i can feel that way again.

Chris asks…
Please help me get a recipe for this school project!!?
My a$$ of a health teacher gave up this project today and you have to bring in something representing your hobby, talk about how it influences your personality and share it with the class. I really don’t have any interesting hobbies, so I just decided I would do cooking.
I need a recipe to do that is very easy and I can use simple ingredients that I already have at home. I’m still deciding whether or not I want to cook for the entire class or not, so maybe a recipe for a group. Maybe a dessert or some sort of snack that is commonly liked .It’s at school so allergies would be a factor.
Thank you in advance

So your teacher’s the bad guy, ey? Well, as I see it, cooking is a great hobby to develop and can lead to all sorts of future endeavors, including cooking an amazing meal for a new boyfriend! Here are some ideas:
1. What do YOU like to eat? This is sort of key when you make your presentation to the teacher. If you like a certain food and you can talk about it when you present your food, that’s all the better.
Making stuff just for the sake of making it to get thru the class will get you a lower grade.
2. Allergies are a big deal. Watch out for allergic reactions to: nuts, milk, fish, wheat etc.
3. Easiest and tastiest thing I know are Rice Krispie Treats! Everybody loves em!
